WWSF: Chapter FourteenDante   
I have my Faye back, but it isn’t the one I expected. This Faye is six years old again. She gets up in the middle of the night and pads across the room to lie beside me in the bed. She doesn’t understand that after a while her body is like a hot brand against my back. I could say that this is her way of giving herself to me, letting me know that it’s okay, that I can hold her and kiss her the way I want to and it will be okay, but I know that’s not true. Not when she looks so young with her pale bangs falling across her forehead and her thumb so near her mouth.

She hadn’t planned on it being like this. She wasn’t thinking, really, when she left. There was only the escape. She was getting away from Scott, and that was all that mattered. She may have had the vague idea that she could do what her father did, sell her pictures, or maybe dance. She wasn’t bad. She could probably make decent money as a street performer.   
Things get into your head, though. Scott always said that she wouldn’t be good for anything but this, that he would pay her better than anyone for her services. He was wrong on that count. She may have been a prostitute bu WWSF:Chapter Thirteen :mature:

She almost doesn’t go this time. Something in her is screaming for what she is leaving behind, for pennies in fountains and conversations over salmon-colored rice with ginger. It isn’t easy, though. She’ll have to face what she’s done so far and she isn’t ready. So she walks like a finger is prodding her along and peeks behind the door. He is waiting with a kind of sick smile. She is late, but he had known she would be there.   
This time he hands her a bundle of pink silk and lace, striped stockings, thick-heeled black shoes. She stares at him until he points towards the dressing WWSF: Third Session ::mature::

WWSF: Chapter Twelve :mature:Ava   
I came home early from work that day. Ginger’s son was bringing her grandkids over, Sunny and Clara. She was so excited and said she was closing down early to go home and get ready for them. When I offered to keep the stand for her, she told me that I could have the day off, that everyone should be as happy as she was. She hadn’t seen Sunny or Clara in almost a year.   
I didn’t expect Sera to be home. I headed into the kitchen first and set out the ingredients for the sauce I was making to go with that night’s pasta. It was one of Sera’s favorite dishes. One of mine, too. We didn’t eat WWSF: Chapter Twelve :mature:

O, how gaily they're ringing out now!

Well, it's almost Christmas, which is fabulous for me. I'm one of those people who loves Christmas--the lights, the trees, the feeling of togetherness that's supposed to come, carols, all that cheesy stuff--so I'm pretty cheerful right now.

NaNoWriMo is long over, and I'm very happy to say that FINALLY, in my fourth year of trying, I've completed it.

Yay!

I did not, however, complete my novel, because that mofo is gonna be LONG. I'm going to try to finish it before June, so I can get a free paperback copy sent my way. =) I love you, NaNoWriMo perks!

Anyway, that's about all in way of an update. I'm still updating What We're Searching For and writing little snippets that don't really need to be posted anywhere. I'm also thinking about adding some more of my short stories, but eh. We'll see.

Oooh, Stephies! I went to Barnes and Noble yesterday and saw a Return to the Labyrinth manga and thought of yooou. It looks...well, interesting, anyway.

I got 17 books for Christmas! Only one was NOT Stephen King...and that one was Phantoms (yay for Tammers introducing me to Mr. Koontz!)...
